Cask Ale Week
1,445 Pints and £1,445 Saved During Cask Ale Week at The Fourpenny
What a week!
During Cask Ale Week 2026, the Government gave customers a penny off a pint. Here at The Fourpenny, we decided we’d go a little further.
Quite a bit further, in fact.
Throughout Cask Ale Week, we gave customers £1 off every pint of cask ale served at The Fourpenny.
And you certainly made the most of it.
By the end of the week, we’d poured an incredible 1,445 pints of cask ale.
That means £1,445 stayed in the pockets of our customers, while those 1,445 pints also helped support the breweries, pubs, brewers, publicans and everyone else working to keep proper British cask ale alive.
1,445 Pints of Cask Ale in One Week
We knew our customers enjoyed a good pint of cask ale, but even we were impressed by the response.
Serving 1,445 pints during the promotion wasn’t simply about reaching a big number. Every pint represented someone coming through the doors of the pub, enjoying a locally or independently brewed beer and supporting the wider pub and brewing industry.
And that’s exactly what Cask Ale Week should be about.
Cask ale has been at the heart of British pub culture for generations. Unlike many mass-produced beers, a great pint of cask ale is a living product that requires care, knowledge and proper cellar management before it reaches your glass.
For us, that’s part of what makes it special.
£1 Off Every Pint – Not Just a Penny
There was plenty of discussion about the Government’s penny reduction on a pint during Cask Ale Week.
We decided to make our own contribution considerably more noticeable.
Instead of reducing the price of a pint by 1p, we took £1 off every pint of cask ale for the duration of the promotion.
The result?
1,445 pints sold.
£1,445 saved by our customers.
More importantly, it encouraged people to come into the pub, try different cask ales and support the breweries producing them.
That’s money we’d much rather see staying in our customers’ pockets while helping generate more support for cask beer and the pub trade.
Supporting Proper Pubs and Proper Beer
The British pub trade continues to face plenty of challenges.
Increasing costs and changing drinking habits mean getting people through the doors is more important than ever – particularly for independent pubs and the breweries supplying them.
Initiatives such as Cask Ale Week give pubs across the country another reason to celebrate what they do best.
They encourage people to visit their local, try a cask beer they might not normally order and discover the enormous variety being produced by breweries across the country.
For The Fourpenny, the results speak for themselves.
Cask Ale Week got people through our doors.
And once they were here, they drank quite a lot of cask ale!
Celebrating Cask Ale Week 2026
A huge thank you must go to Cask Marque and Cask Ale Week 2026 for continuing to champion cask ale and giving pubs across the country a reason to celebrate it.
Campaigns like this help keep cask ale visible and remind people that a great pint isn’t simply about what’s in the glass.
It’s about the brewery that made it, the people who delivered it, the cellar that looked after it, the pub that served it and the people enjoying it together.
We’re proud to be part of that.
A Huge Thank You to Our Breweries
Of course, you can’t have a successful Cask Ale Week without some exceptional beer.
Throughout the week we had a fantastic selection of cask ales available, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to the brilliant breweries that helped keep The Fourpenny’s pumps flowing:
Hook Norton Brewery
Church Farm Brewery
Cotswold Lion Brewery
North Cotswold Brewery
Wye Valley Brewery
Hobsons Brewery
Abbeydale Brewery
Byatt’s Brewery
Vale Brewery
Tring Brewery
Silhill Brewery
Slaughterhouse Brewery
And thank you to CAMRA Heart of Warwickshire for their continued support of real ale and the pubs that serve it.
Without great breweries making great beer, none of this happens.
One of the joys of cask ale is the enormous variety available. Different breweries, beer styles, strengths and flavours mean there’s nearly always something new to discover when you visit the bar.
That’s something we’re keen to continue at The Fourpenny long after Cask Ale Week has finished.
