Made our stay very pleasant!

“We booked a small reunion of friends and booked not knowing much about the hotel. From the outset, the staff were helpful, communication was good and helped to make our get together memorable. The staff were quietly attentive, competent and friendly, the food was good and the accommodation comfortable. We had a lovely weekend, everyone in our group of 12 commented on how good the hotel, staff and food were and were very complimentary. It was truly a lucky find and we would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for making our weekend a success!”

Rachel, Miami

“I honestly can’t find fault with the hotel. Our room was nicely decorated, plenty of room, nice en-suite shower room, coffee machine with Starbucks coffee, wifi, flat screen tv on the wall and a comfortable bed. We had dinner at the hotel, I had a rack of BBQ ribs, my partner had pork belly, both of which were delicious. The bar also has a good selection of real ale including local brews. I would recommend booking a table as the bar/restaurant was busy. The breakfast was equally as good. I had a full English and my partner had eggs on toast. All with extra toast and tea/coffee/juice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely stay here again.”

What a find a perfect place to stay

“I was not sure when I booked the Old Fourpenny Shop Hotel as sometimes small independent hotels can be so disappointing – but this was the opposite – warm and welcoming, professional and fun – locals at the bar made us welcome too and the rooms were cosy and clean and modern – the bed was comfortable – the room was quiet and the food was exciting and delicious – service was first class …I am looking forward to going back – I was working and didn’t have much time for sight seeing but the Old Fourpenny Shop Hotel is very close to the Castle.”

Great value

“I don’t usually have much luck when choosing a pub with accommodation but this is a nice change – a lovely spacious room that is clean and provided with all you would need – the bar is well stocked with 6 real ales and a taster is available if you are unsure. The food I’ve just had was wonderful- the spare ribs where not out of any packet – juicy and served with a wonderful bbq sauce- the homemade steak and kidney pie with cabbage and mash was just as good and it was pleasing to get served proper English mustard- nothing from a packet but a good old fashioned strong mustard- I’ll be back.”

Surpassed expectations – Lottie

“We booked a room at the top of the hotel for a stop off on our way to the Midlands for Christmas, as we wanted a family room, and it looked lovely on the website, and certainly lived up to expectations, in fact surpassed them, how we wished we had booked the room for two nights. Cleanliness was superb, the bathroom had a walk in shower which was exactly what we wanted, two double beds in the bedroom, wardrobe, desk area etc. coffee machine for use with hot chocolate, tea and of course coffee. Fresh milk was given to us when we arrived. The room was very quiet and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was superb, definitely 5* comfort easily, staff were very helpful too, especially on arrival where a gentleman offered to help with luggage, made sure we had fresh milk etc. Only two little things which I would not even consider worth downgrading for at all, the entrance is extremely narrow and as we were last to arrive, the spacing was tight. Luckily the following day, we fortunately spoke to the person parked next to us who kindly moved his car forward so we could manoeuvre our car out, and it bleeped all the way through the entrance/exit, but as I have said, no way would I mark down for that at all. Second, and this was mainly due to a problem I had had with a knee injury, we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs, 2 were like half staircases, I knew we were high up when I booked, and still managed to get up and down. But I can only praise this lovely hotel and as I said before, wish we had gone for two nights. Just to mention, we found out that they have ground floor bedrooms at the back of the hotel where cars are parked if anyone cannot manage the stairs.”

Great hotel and pub – Samantha

“We were only here for one night, but it was great. The room was comfortable for two adults and two children. We enjoyed their 241 burger night (they had a gluten free bun!) and the breakfast was very nice as well. The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful. My husband took ill and they let us check out an hour later so he could continue to rest while we visited the castle. They also let us leave our car in the parking lot until we left that afternoon. Note, the tunnel into the car park is rather tight. All in all we had a great stay.”

A true diamond in the Crown. Everything was just right

“Having travelled down from Scotland, we arrived early as having read previous reviews, didn’t want to miss out on an elusive car park space. There was ample space when we arrived, but it can be seen that it could be a problem if there are too many cars. We checked in, and were greeted very professionally and courteously by a very nice young man, who seemed to take personal pride in making sure the experience was pleasurable. He showed us to our very nicely appointed room with an exquisite bathroom complete with power shower, and large fluffy towels, and a coffee/tea maker. The beds were extremely comfortable, and we also booked for the evening meal here as being residents there is a discount (which we were unaware of until after we’d booked). We went for a stroll around the nearby streets, and found that the residence is situated within easy reach of Warwick Castle, Town Centre, and Racecourse after chatting with what we later found to be the General Manager (who had asked if we needed any help). The dinner was superb, and prepared very well, and all the food was very well cooked and full of flavour, and good size servings. The staff were attentive, but not obtrusive, and were there at hand to assist at any time. It was very relaxing knowing we were in very good hands with staff who seemed to genuinely care for their customers, and aimed to ensure a great, not just a good, experience. We retired to our room for a wonderful quiet nights sleep in very comfortable beds. Breakfast was, once again, immaculate. Served nice and hot, and a good selection which was then freshly cooked on order. Staff were once again attentive, and helpful, and it was very relaxing. Check out and settling the bill was seamless, and they also allowed us to leave our car in the car park until 2pm so we could walk around and tour the castle without the worry of car parks and finding a spot. All in all, the entire experience staying here was an absolute pleasure, and very relaxing knowing that the staff were doing their utmost to make it that way, and doing all in their power to please their customers. It is a credit to the management that they maintain this very high standard across the board, and it is a credit to all the staff that they take such great pride in the service they deliver. I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough, and would glaldy return and stay here without the slightest hesitation. Thank you Old Fourpenny for a fantastic stay, and hope to see you again.”
