The Good Beer Guide 2024

We Celebrate the Launch of The Good Beer Guide 2024

And we are happy to say that we’re in it!!!

Here is what they said in the book – “The pub is in a Georgian building dating from around 1800 and lies a short distance from the town centre, close to the racecourse and castle. Its name derives from the price of a cup of coffee and tot of rum that was charged to workers building the nearby Grand Union Canal in the early 1800s. The single, split-level room has a contemporary feel and a relaxed atmosphere, enhanced by the absence of machines. There is an outside seating area. Accommodation is in 14 en-suite rooms.”

The 51st edition

In honour of the release of the 51st edition of The Good Beer Guide on September 28, 2023, numerous CAMRA branches are hosting special events in pubs throughout the nation. These events are a tribute to the enduring excellence of the brewing and hospitality industry.

One noteworthy celebration in anticipation of The Good Beer Guide 2024’s publication took place at the Signature Brewery in Walthamstow. This event brought together an eclectic mix of brewers, members of the press, devoted Iron Maiden fans, and more. With Trooper beer on draught, complemented by a selection of musically inspired brews, live musical performances, a stand-up comedian, and the presence of beer-writing expert Pete Brown, the gathering was a resounding success. The only dampener on the festivities was the unexpected rain that drummed rather loudly on the venue’s tin roof.
