About Us

Legend has it that when the Warwick section of The Grand Union Canal was being built in the early 1800s the Tavern on Crompton Street was charging a mere four pennies for a cup of coffee and a tot of rum. Other inns were charging an “outrageous” six pennies! Hence, The Fourpenny Shop.

It has had a few other names over its lifetime; The Paul Pry, The Warwick Tavern and The Old Fourpenny Shop.

At The Fourpenny Pub you will find six ever-changing real ales, craft lagers, ciders and a global selection of fine wines. Our food menus have been designed so they are affordable, seasonal, generously portioned and use locally sourced produce. There is a selection of traditional pub classics and old favourites, as well as daily specials. On Sundays you will also be able to choose from a selection of roasts served with fresh vegetables, home-made Yorkshire puddings and gravy.

The Fourpenny Pub is a great place to enjoy gorgeous grub and grog!!

Opening Times

We are Open 12pm to 11pm Everyday.

Testimonials

“Food & ale excellent”

“Have visited the fourpenny many times now since our return to warwick. What an improvement. The decor is lovely, and the staff are fantastic, so helpful and cheerful even when busy. The food is great. Have tried several dishes now and all have been excellent hot and tasty, when i want a burger it is the only place to go! the steaks which my husband loves and he is super fussy are so good, i had a beef dish on a potato base and it melted in my mouth – so tender and flavour wonderful. Whoever cooks this food are brilliant! The staff really go out of their way to ensure you are looked after (even giving our dog the occasional sausage!) and my husband loves the ale – the best place to drink and eat in warwick for anyone visiting or local! well done. Have been there with several family members as well and they wish they had a pub like it near them and the prices are really good.”

“Nice new decor!”

“Came here a year ago for a pre race drink. Was impressed then, returned this year and it’s been re decorated and it’s even better! Great new bar layout. Even more good beer to choose from. And clearly thriving as it was packed! Can’t wait to go again!”

“Fantastic meal – great place to visit!”

“What a fab place! We’ve been interested in visiting for a meal for some time. We finally got around to popping in and all we can do is say what a wonderful experience we enjoyed! Great food, fantastic service and the wine was good too! Nothing not to like really!”
